MY TRAVEL EXPERIENCE

 

Guatapé, the colorful town by the water 

Have you ever wondered where you can fish during the day and dance at night in the same place? Guatapé was always on my list, but it turned out to be even better than I imagined. It provided an authentic experience with its colorful houses, big lake, and friendly people. I arrived there and found out it is a place where nature, sport fishing, and nightlife come together in themountains of Antioquia.

WHERE TO GO

 The Lake: You must take a boat out on the lake to enjoy the fresh air and calm water. It is an iconic place where you can fish for hours and see the green mountains around you.

Main Square: You should also visit the main square at night. It is a beautiful place where you can find restaurants, listen to live music, and spend time with friends under the lights.

WHAT TO DO

Sport Fishing
If you go fishing early in the morning, you will catch more fish. You can rent a boat and fish for bass and tilapia.

Live Orquestas
If you visit on a weekend, you might find orquestas playing in the park. You could dance all night with locals and tourists.

Try Fried Fish
You have to eat fried fish with patacones. If you sit at a restaurant in the square, you will enjoy the music while you eat.

Night Walk
You should walk around the town after dinner. If you go at night, you will see the colorful houses with beautiful lights.

TRAVEL TIPS

1- You must bring your fishing rod or rent one 
2- You have to check if there are orquestas playing on the weekend
3- You should wear comfortable shoes for walking and nice clothes for night
4- You don't have to climb the rock if you don't want to
5- You would like to stay in a hostel near the park
